| Event Title: Concert: "Big Band Classics" Event Story: A free concert by Swingtime. Come enjoy a variety of Big Band Themes made popular by Big Bands of the 1940's and 1950's. We guarantee your feet will be tapping all night long.
Swingtime, an ensemble of the Melbourne Municipal Band, also presents dances featuring jazz and Big Band standards. Swingtime dances have long been a favorite of local dancers and jazz lovers looking for a reasonably priced, toe-tapping evening. This 20-piece band is directed by Art Martin, a tenor and baritone saxophonist. Art has performed with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie, and The Platters, to name just a few.
